As soon as | stepped into the hotel lobby, my phone vibrated in my pocket. | hadn't paid any attention to it for

hours.

A quick glance around the lobby revealed Beta Axel engaged in conversation with one of the hotel managers. He

didn’t even notice me. Without hesitation, | headed straight to the elevator and made my way to my room.

| was staying at the shotel as the members of the Iron Crown Pack-though they had no idea.

When | entered my room, my gaze landed on a man sitting on the couch, speaking on the phone.

He stood up as soon as he noticed me.

“Kane, where the hell have you been?”

| let out a sigh. “Why are you in my room, Finn?” | asked while walking toward the closet.

“Are you serious, man? This isn’t our pack’s territory. You're an Alpha. What if someone ambushed you? | was

losing my damn mind over you.”

| turned to face him. “Your Alpha can handle any attack that comes his way. Stop freaking out.”

Pulling out a suit from the closet, | headed toward the bathroom.

“How can | not be worried? My Alpha is out of his damn mind. He's in love-

| shot him a sharp glare, effectively shutting him up. He raised his hands in surrender.

Ignoring him, | stepped into the bathroom. His voice followedthrough the door.

“You regret your divorce.”

“Fuck off, Finn.”

Not long after, | heard the sound of the door closing. Standing under the shower, | released a deep sigh, shutting

my eyes.

Right now, | was battling both myself and my wolf. | refused to entertain the thoughts Finn had planted in my

mind. It wasn’t possible. | couldn't be thinking this way.

Yet, as soon as Selene’s face surfaced in my mind, my eyes snapped open. Tilting my head back, | let the cold

water cascade over my face, running my fingers through my hair.

After getting dressed and putting on my shoes, | left my room. As | passed by Finn's door, my thoughts

were a mess.

Exiting the hotel, | got into my car. Since | had signed a deal with this pack, | had to visit frequently. That was

why | decided to get a car here.

Giving my driver the address, | instructed him to taketo the party venue.

It was a half-hour drive. When | stepped out of the car, | noticed people stealing curious glances at me. Ignoring

them, | walked inside.

The hall was elegantly decorated with orchids, and a chandelier hung low, casting warm light throughout the

space.

| spotted the CEOs of various pack-owned companies, accompanied by their entourages. There were

several women here who hadn't attended the conference yesterday.

It was obvious that many Alphas had brought their wives or girlfriends along.

Alpha Danus approached me, trying to apologize, as if he feared | was upset with him.

| didn’t argue. Why would I? | didn’t care what anyone thought about that woman.

But my conviction shattered the moment my eyes landed on her.

Selene had just entered the hall.

Her maroon gown hugged her curves perfectly. It was sleeveless and backless, exposing flawless skin with no

scars or imperfections.

“Miss Selene has arrived! She truly is an extraordinary woman,” whispers and murmurs filled the room. “Mine.”

| forced my gaze away from her, though every fiber of my being wanted to keep looking.

Turning my attention back to Alpha Darius, | noticed he, too, was staring at her.

| raised an eyebrow at him. He noticed my gaze and slowly turned back to me.

“I was just looking. Don’t take it the wrong way,” he said quickly.

| let it go. He was one of my allies-I had no interest in creating unnecessary tension.

Making my way to the bar, | ordered a drink, my eyes unconsciously tracking Selene’s every move.

A voice besidepulledfrom my thoughts.

“Stop chasing something that isn’t yours anymore, Alpha Kane.”

1 turned my head and met the gaze of Beta Axel.

“Beta Axel,” | muttered, lifting my glass. “Enjoy your drink.”

| didn’t pay him much attention. He was just a beta from another pack. | could bet he wasn’t even as strong as

Finn. What was the point? If he hadn't been my ex-wife's ally, he and his Alpha would have. approached me

politely, seeking an alliance.

“Cheers,” he said, but his eyes were locked onto Selene-a sight | didn’t appreciate.

“You all lied toabout her children. They're not yours,” | said, taking a sip of my drink.

“They're not yours either,” he countered mockingly.

My grip on the glass tightened, but | restrained myself from crushing it.

| had no response-because he was right. They weren't my children.

“Alpha Kane, this isn’t a warning-it’s a message. Stay away from Selene. She has nothing to do with you

anymore. She’s withnow. | love her, and she loves me. Magnus has already approved it.”

| frowned. “You're lying

He chuckled, shaking his head. “I'm not. Ask her yourself.”

| scoffed. “Of course, you want to be with her. She's your Alpha’s sister-that*

A sharp pang hit my chest. | didn’t like his words-or more accurately, | didn’t like the fact that he wanted to

claim Selene as his.

“If that’s true, why hasn’t Alpha Magnus announced anything?” | challenged, hoping he was bluffing.

Axel simply shrugged. “She told her brother she wants to focus on her career for now. But in the future, I'll be the

one by her side. The entire pack knows we're together.”
